Course Description

You want to learn

  • You may have bought a GPS, or are thinking of buying one. You may be a complete beginner or have just tried the basics of getting a location fix or navigating to a waypoint or destination, but are not comfortable  with the features or your GPS or Smartphone app, or things like transferring routes, tracks etc from and to your PC or Mac.
  • You want to learn types of devices and software available, and what they are best suited to
  • To practice in the field and learn how to use the common and most useful features of a device or Smartphone app, until you are comfortable with them
  • Setting routes and waypoints on a PC or Mac, transferring and using tracks etc. This will equip you with the ability to plan routes for walks safely and easily, then use your device in the field
  • And you want to understand map and compass basics to check what your device is telling you, and as a back up if it fails.

Location

The Lake District is the UK’s most beautiful place.  Voted for countless times, spoken about by Wordsworth and documented by Wainwright.  It has over 800 square miles of the most gorgeous countryside anywhere in the world.  From soft rolling hills to sharp ridges, long valleys, and England’s highest mountain, ScaFell Pike at 978m, the Lake District offers a lifetime of stunning hill walking.

Learn to navigate and improve your skills in the Lakes and enjoy outstanding beauty and the best of the UK’s scenery.  Climbing the list of Wainwright’s fells becomes a passion, and will provide countless memorable days on the hill.

This spacious, airy facility is an ideal starting point for your Lake District course, with friendly and helpful staff making your stay comfortable.
